Frequently Asked Questions

Is my daugther required to attend camp everyday?

Camp fees cover the cost of the whole week; it is in your discretion to choose to attend camp everyday, or choose only a few days a week. The Camp Director must be notified of special attendance arrangements and of absences.

Can I pay for meals on a day-to-day basis?

Hot meals and snacks are provided by Healthy Kidz and are based on a rotational, bi-weekly schedule; therefore, meal plan payments are required at the beginning of camp week.

Where are the Field Trip destinations?

Field Trip vary weekly, as we want to encompass a wide variety of destinations and experiences to expose the campers to many practical learning opportunities. We will be visiting places such as; Evergreen Brick Works, the Spadina Museum, the ROM, and Allan Gardens. For some weeks we may have organizations  such as Action Potential Lab, Innovative Arts, and other special guests bring the special experience to Hawthorn instead.

Can parents accompany their daughter during Field Trip Fridays?

Parents are not required to accompany their daughter during Field Trips. Our Camp Counsellors are well trained and versed in ensuring the safety and well-being of each camper. Special requests may be considered; please contact the Camp Director directly.

What training do Camp Staff receive?

All Senior Camp Counsellors are a minimum of 18 years of age and have experience working at summer camps and/or schools; with most of them in or graduated from a program involving the education of children. All staff have their current Standard First Aid and CPR "C" Certification, as well as a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check on file. Camp Counsellors receive a minimum of one week of training along with Health and Safety procedures and protocols.

How does Drop-Off and Pick-Up work?

Campers must be signed in and out at the time of their arrival and pick-up by the parent or authorized guardian. Each camper's file contains parent/authorized guardian photo identification; individuals picking up/dropping off campers must match our records before the camper is released.
